Northern horse racing trainers used to be regarded as the poor relations of their Southern counterparts,
especially compared to Newmarket but Southern punters beware, there are many capable and successful
trainers from up North.
Yorkshire's leading trainer Mark Johnston is the best known and has been instrumental in raising the
status of Middleham as a top class racing centre. Other Middleham trainers I follow include T Barron,
MWE Easterby, Dandy Nichols and Ann Duffield.
